POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The CET Department at New York City College of Technology, CUNY, offers two programs: Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Electromechanical Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Technology (BT) in Computer Engineering. Both are ABET accredited programs. The program’s mission is to teach students in the basics of electrical technology, mechanical technology, computer hardware, software, and networking, and the integration of these technologies with computer control of electromechanical devices. The department’s range of offerings is in the application of computer control of electromechanical devices making use of microcontrollers and embedded systems hardware and software. Current goals include course development in the area of Media Networking, Sensors & Embedded Systems, Mobile Devices and Digital Signal Processing (DSP). CET plans to expand its concentration towards technology application specific to networks and embedded systems that will support the services and applications layers of communications.

We are looking for a qualified individual to fill a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to develop and teach courses in the areas mentioned above and also contribute to new initiatives within our department. The candidate will also serve as an integral member of other interrelated programs in the School of Technology and Design. In addition to a strong interest in undergraduate teaching, candidates should have well developed research plans as applied to computer engineering technology.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or master’s degree with Professional Engineer (PE) license in engineering (electrical or computer engineering preferred), computer science, or related discipline; a minimum of 3 years experience in embedded systems software development and media-related computing and networking; and experience with associated hardware highly desirable. Candidates with advanced degrees in computer science or other non-engineering disciplines should have at least one degree (associate’s or bachelor’s) in a relevant branch of engineering or engineering technology. An appropriate master’s degree and Professional Engineer license are minimum requirements and would be considered with an exceptional industry and academic portfolio.

Responsible for overseeing and assuring quality technical support services for major event logistics by ensuring appropriately trained staff and resources are onsite and knowledgeable of event needs, resources, and systems. Coordinates support staff preparedness & liability compliance in fully executing required contract commitments. Supervises the Production Services Office Manager. Responsible for overseeing internal operations by implementing and/or maintaining effective administrative systems including inventory, repair and other systems as needed. Serves as a primary repair technician for student union production services equipment. Coordinates administrative, communication, and human resource management functions in support of UUSA Production Services as needed. In absence of the Assistant Director for Technical Services, assumes overall responsibilities for oversight of the UUSA Technical Services resources, services, and functions.
