International Travel Grants

Submissions for 2025 Grants accepted through Oct. 24, 2024.

As designers and technicians, we spend so much time doing meticulous research so we can recreate hundreds of different times, people, and places on stage. Thanks to modern tech, we're able to find most information at the click of a button. But there's nothing like hands-on, in-person research. USITT is here to help you fund your next research expedition with the help of our International Travel Grants. These grants are awarded to students and professionals who want to expand their knowledge and experience through travel!

This grant will fund projects that:

  • Seek new knowledge through international travel to exhibitions, productions, and collections; or
  • Provide opportunities in design for international companies; and
  • Include a method of sharing experiences with the USITT Membership

Individual/Professional

This grant was established in 2004 to provide USITT Members with funding for international travel for advanced research and education in theatre-related fields. Applicants must be current Members, Member Plus, or Senior USITT members.

These grants were established in 2003 to assist USITT Student Members with international travel for education and research in theatre-related fields.

All applicants must:

  • be a current USITT Student Member
  • be a full-time student currently enrolled in either an upper-division or graduate program in theatre
  • demonstrate excellence or outstanding potential in research or design in any field related to the mission of USITT
