The Assistant Carpenter supports the Head Carpenter in managing the carpentry department, overseeing staff and labor, and performing administrative tasks. They lead the IATSE Carpentry crew in loading, unloading, and assembling production elements, maintain safety, and operate the crew during shows, covering for the Head Carpenter when necessary.
-At least four years of experience with tools/materials, installing/running large-scale productions with union crews.
-At least two years leading union crews.
-Familiarity with counterweight fly systems and automated systems.
-Proficiency in packing/loading trucks and forklifts.
-Experience with lifts, ladders, and safety gear.
-Ability to work independently, manage multiple crews, and meet deadlines.
-Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD is a bonus.
-General knowledge of theatrical safety.
-Ability to stand, lift 20-40 lbs., stoop, bend, reach, and work at heights.
