The Department of Theatre & Dance at the State University of New York at Fredonia invites
applications for a part-time Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor. The position is secured by a
one-year contract and is renewable annually.
The Costume Shop functions as both a training center and support system for the Bachelor of
Fine Arts in Theatrical Production and Design, the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts, and the
Department’s Walter Gloor Mainstage Season. This includes the creation, alteration,
organization, and management of all costume elements for up to 6 fully-realized productions per
year (i.e. plays, musicals, or dance concerts). The Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor lends
support to the Costume Shop Supervisor and the Faculty Costume Designer with teaching
essential skills to students, as well as the daily management of Costume Shop activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2 or more years of costume shop experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of the costume design and construction processes
• Specialized training or experience with tailoring, altering, and original pattern creation.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated communication skills – written, oral, visual.
