Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a tenure-track Scenic or Lighting Design Assistant Professor position. This position will teach three classes per academic year; mentor student designers and technicians; design scenery for 2-3 productions per year or lighting for 4-6 productions per year and oversee technical areas. Classes taught may include: Scenic Painting, Lighting Design, Lighting Design for Dance, Drafting and Model Building, Technical Production in Theatre, Advanced Projects (mentorship), and other courses. This position will manage shops, inventories, budgets, and undergraduate student workers, participate in strike, lighting hang, focus calls, or scenic production work. The department produces nine productions (plays, musicals, and dance concerts) per year.

-Terminal degree in related field
-Teaching experience in higher education with professional design credits or equivalent professional design experience
-Executing scenic painting and/or stage electrics
-Proficiency with AutoCAD or Vectorworks, other industry software
-OSHA & ESTA standards
-Lighting: Design & program experience with ETC software, moving lights, LED fixtures, EOS programming, and ION lighting boards
-Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to stand for long periods
