Theatre, Dance, & Arts Administration at Southern Utah University invites applicants with expertise in scenic design & technology for a 9-month, tenure-track, position in theatre at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. The successful candidate will join a team of other design/production faculty/staff in teaching classes for the BFA and BA/BS degree programs. The candidate will offer specific courses in Scenic Design, Scenic Painting, Drawing and Rendering, and Drafting, as well as general design for theatre and dance, and other related areas. This position mentors student scenic designers and artists and designs/paints scenery for some departmental productions for which they receive teaching reassignment. Other duties include student career/academic advising, student recruitment, service to departmental, college, and university committees, and other duties as assigned. Excellence in teaching, creative/scholarly activity, and service is expected.
Minimum:
-Terminal degree required in a relevant field such as an MFA in Theatre Design
-Professional experience in scenic design and scenic art
-College teaching experience
-Prior record of artistic/scholarly achievement
