The Department of Theatre at Michigan State University is seeking a part-time faculty of Stage Management position. This is a fixed-term, spring semester position beginning January 1, 2025, and is not renewable. Rank is determined by highest degree with a BA required for an Assistant Instructor position, MA for an Instructor, or PhD equivalent -MFA for an Assistant Professor position. This position will teach THR466 Advance Stage Management, a 3-credit required class for those enrolled in the BFA Stage Management program, that meets in-person Tuesday and Thursdays from 10:20am – 12:10pm. Classes begin January 13th and end May 2nd. This position will also mentor and supervise student stage managers for department productions and will work closely with those students through weekly individual meetings, observing rehearsals, providing mentorship during the rehearsal and tech/dress process. Upon the close of a production, they will then conduct post-production assessments with each student. Assisting/mentoring and offering feedback to the student stage managers is a vital and exciting part of the position.
