This is a 9-month appointment, reporting to the Chair of Theatre and Dance. This role involves overseeing all activities in the Theatre and Dance Costume Shop and managing costume, hair, and makeup for productions at the Bert C. Bach Theatre/Martin Center for the Arts and other university venues. You will supervise students, faculty, and staff in the daily operations of the ETSU Costume Shop learning laboratory, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
Key responsibilities include overseeing costume creation—pulling, building, renting, and purchasing—administering actor fittings, designing costumes, hair, and makeup for productions, and attending production meetings and dress rehearsals. The position also involves maintaining budget records, enforcing safety protocols for equipment use, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized working environment. Additionally, you will supervise student workers, mentor student costume designers, and manage donations in compliance with legal standards.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting as required by costume production.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Costume Design, or a related field.
2 years of work experience in costume, hair, and makeup productions.
2 years of experience in costume shop management.
Preferred Qualifications
MFA in Theatre (Costume related field)
