The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) at Oregon State University is seeking a Production Manager.
The Production Manager is responsible for the implementational logistics of all events in PRAx. The Production Manager creates the staffing/call schedule for each event, and is expected to manage implementation to achieve exceptional production values while ensuring efficiency across the organization. The Production Manager acts as the primary representative of PRAx in advance meetings with professional artists, partner presenting organizations, faculty ensemble leaders, and student groups, as well as with internal staff managing rental events or similar functions. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that technical riders are fulfilled, and is expected to arrange backline and the transportation of equipment as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in theatre, music, technical theatre, production management, or related arts field. The Bachelor’s degree may be in an unrelated field with 2+years in technical theater, arts production, or in the artistic management of an arts, music, or theatre venue.
Strong organizational skills, especially the ability to manage projects on various timelines and prioritize as necessary.
Comprehensive, earned (on-the-job) knowledge of AV systems, lighting/electrics, stagecraft, and roles across a productions department (stage management, technical direction, sound engineering, lighting, venue preparation)
Experience working as part of the running crew of a live performance venue.
Knowledge of industry-standard best practices in lighting, audio, projection, seating, stage facilities, rigging, and special effects devices.
Ability to review technical riders for compatibility with the equipment, capabilities and staffing needs of the venues.
Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
