Reporting to the Production Manager, the Technical Director (a non-union role) manages a crew of overhire technicians and will excel at working in teams, have strong skills in all aspects of scenic construction, and have strong skills in all aspects of scenic construction (including complex rigging and automation) and be knowledgeable about all areas of technical design, including lighting, sound, and projection. 3+ years of theatrical/technical experience, preferably in NYC performing arts; extensive knowledge of technical theatre; proficiency in AutoCAD or Vectorworks; ability to discern information from technical and design drawings. This role requires non-traditional hours as needed. Applicants must be comfortable lifting objects 50+ pounds and working at heights around 25’.
