Summary

The Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, CT seeks a Wig Runner for the fifth show of the 2024-2025 season https://yalerep.org/productions/notes-on-killing/ .

This is a Temporary/Casual position (Theatre Technician 3). Dates of employment are April 18, 2025-May 17, 2025.

Compensation is $31.05 per hour with overtime after 40. Housing can be made available.

The Wig Runner is responsible for the quick and efficient application, removal, and maintenance of wigs during technical rehearsals and performances, including tasks like fetching wigs, performing minor adjustments, managing quick changes, regular styling and washing maintenance of the wigs, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and organization of the wig room.

Key Responsibilities:

· Quickly access and deliver the correct wigs to actors based on the scene and character requirements.

· Assist actors in fast wig changes during performances, ensuring smooth transitions between scenes.

· Clean, style, and maintain wigs according to the Wig Designers instructions, including basic repairs and touch-ups.

· Keep the wig storage area neat and organized, labeling wigs properly and tracking their condition.

· Help actors during wig fittings, ensuring proper fit and style.

· Identify any damage or issues with wigs and report them to the Wig Designer for repair.

· Be prepared to quickly respond to changing needs during rehearsals and performances, adhering to the show's schedule.

· Collaborate effectively with the Wardrobe Supervisor, Costume Crew, Stage Carpenter and Stage Management to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

Required Skills:

· Ability to perform wig styling techniques like brushing, combing, and securing wigs. Ability to perform natural and elevated wig styling techniques on both human & synthetic hair.

· Precisely follow instructions and ensure wigs are applied and maintained, according to the design and integrity of the wig.

· Ability to work quickly and efficiently with small tools and materials.

· Manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet tight deadlines during quick changes.
