BROOKLYN, MI – The Big Fam Music & Arts Festival, known for its immersive sound experiences and eclectic artist lineup, returned to the Groves of Michigan Oct. 4-6 with record attendance. The festival’s three stages featured BASSBOSS loudspeaker systems and Allen & Heath digital mixers.

The festival partnered exclusively with BASSBOSS for all stages, ensuring a consistent and immersive sound experience. Cole Greve, an audio engineer and one of the festival’s directors, opted for BASSBOSS systems particularly due to their reliability and exceptional performance. “What I really like about BASSBOSS is that it’s the only system that I don’t have to worry about over-pushing,” he explained. “I know the gear can handle itself no matter what I throw at it.”

Greve also appreciates how easy it is for BASSBOSS systems to sound great. “You don’t have to be an audio engineer to get amazing sound out of them,” he added. “They’re fairly plug-and-play and sound awesome right out of the box.” Greve and his team have chosen BASSBOSS as their loudspeaker partner every year since the festival’s inception.

In addition, Greve highlighted the user-friendliness of Allen & Heath consoles. “Allen & Heath consoles are extremely easy to use,” he noted. “All the festival engineers were able to pick them up and use them very easily – I don’t think I got asked one question about how to do a single thing on any of the consoles this year.”

The main stage, Apogee, featured an Allen & Heath dLive system at front of house and an Avantis for monitors. dLive is Allen & Heath’s flagship digital mixing system known for its versatility, high channel count, and advanced processing capabilities. Avantis offers a compact all-in-one 64-channel mixing solution with a 96kHz XCVI FPGA engine, boasting an impressive 0.7ms latency.”Allen & Heath consoles also sound incredible, especially the effects section,” noted Greve. “It’s really quite impressive for the price point.”

For the Apogee stage, BASSBOSS Kraken subwoofers, known for the highest SPL on the market for their volume, delivered the low-end foundation for a variety of artists. The system also included VS21 and ZV28 subwoofers, all powered by high-efficiency neodymium drivers and sophisticated DSP for deep, impactful bass. The Kraken-MK3 Powered Subwoofer includes four 21″ drivers in a cabinet that produces as much output as 4 or 5 double 18″ subwoofers. The VS21-MK3 Powered Subwoofer combines a horn-loaded and vented design to deliver hard-hitting kicks and deep 808s. The ZV28-MK3 Powered Subwoofer reveals deep bass frequencies for a rich audience experience.

The art gallery stage utilized BASSBOSS DV12 Powered Tops and SSP118 Powered Subwoofers, providing a balanced sound that suited a diverse range of performances mixed with an Allen & Heath SQ-6.

For the Bayou stage, Greve and his team deployed a cardioid system with BASSBOSS DV12 Powered Tops, along with VS21 and ZV28 Powered Subwoofers, to ensure complete sound coverage while mitigating noise bleed into the surrounding area – all mixed using a compact Allen & Heath CQ-18T digital mixer.
