Call for Interest: YDMT Award Recipients Join the USITT PQ27 Design Team

Past recipients of a USITT YDMT and Rising Star Award have an exciting opportunity to be part of the creative team for the USA National Exhibit and Emerging Exhibitions at the Prague Quadrennial 2027 (PQ27).

Who Can Apply: We invite all YDMT and Rising Start Award recipients from 2019 to 2024 to express their interest in contributing as Associate or Assistant Designers or Managers for the National Exhibit or to join the design team for the Emerging Exhibit.

Opportunities Available: National Exhibit

  • Work as an Associate or Assistant Designer as part of the team creating the USA National Exhibit for PQ27.
  • Collaborate closely with Patrick Rizzotti, the Production Designer, and Core Artistic Team to develop, iterate, and produce designs and paperwork that bring the exhibit to life.

Emerging Exhibit

  • Take on lead design positions as part of the team responsible for the design of the Emerging Exhibit.
  • Work closely with the PQ27 Core Artistic Team, including the Executive Producer (USITT’s Executive Director), Artistic Director, Lead Creative Producer, and Build Technical Director.
  • Shape a dynamic exhibit that reflects emerging perspectives in design under the mentorship of the Production Designer.

3. YDMT Award received and year
4. A brief statement (max 400 words)

  • Describe your interest in this opportunity and what excites you about contributing to the team.
  • Share how your skills can be applied and what you hope to contribute.
  • Discuss any previous experience with PQ or similar projects.
  • Envision the future of the exhibit and share your ideas for its evolution.
  • Explain how this opportunity aligns with your career goals and how it might impact your trajectory.

Selection Process: The PQ27 design teams will consist of a select number of positions, ensuring a focused and collaborative experience. Selected team members will receive partial funding to attend PQ27, which may include a stipend to offset travel and accommodation costs.

Applications will be reviewed by the PQ27 Core Artistic Team. Selections will be based on:

  • Balance of disciplines and perspectives on the team.
  • Clarity and quality of the applicant’s statement, including their understanding of collaborative exhibit design.
  • Demonstrated passion and interest in contributing to the team.
  • Potential for professional growth and development.
