Meet the Core Artistic Leadership Team for the U.S. Exhibition at the Next PQ

October 17, 2024

USITT is honored to have sponsored the U.S. Exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial of Design and Space (PQ) since the inaugural U.S. exhibition in 1972, and the Institute is excited to keep the tradition going with our new Core Artistic Leadership Team for PQ27.

"In working with the International Activities Committee, we reflected on how to make the structure for our volunteer leadership in making our PQ entries more open to the USITT membership," said Executive Director Laura Lee Everett. "We also evaluated the scope of 'the job' and created a four-person team that will lead the PQ27 process from application to selection, from build to exhibition at USITT27 and in Prague. To build support for the designers, especially those working on the Emerging exhibit, there is creative and process mentorship for those new to this kind of collaboration."

The PQ27 Core Artistic Team is composed of an Executive Producer (USITT’s Executive Director), Artistic Director, Lead Creative Producer, and Build Technical Director.

The Artistic Director develops and executes the U.S. National and Emerging exhibits, working with the Executive Producer to create the artistic vision for both.

The Lead Creative Producer maintains the alignment of the artistic statement and vision for the exhibits, mentoring the Emerging designers in the larger collaborative process.

The Build Technical Director leads the group building the exhibits, devising the process for the exhibits to travel, and manages the team taking them to USITT27 and PQ27.

Everett has announced that Rob Eastman-Mullins is the Artistic Director, Patrick Rizzotti as the Lead Creative Producer, and John Keisling as the Build Technical Director.

"For the first time, we offered an open call process for the Build Team and for the Artistic Director, which received great response and excitement," Everett said. "This mirrors the open calls we host for the creative works to be featured as part of the exhibition. I am very excited about collaborating with Rob, John, and Patrick on the upcoming PQ project to feature the very best of American Design."
