“Our intent was to uphold the aesthetic of a Hitchcock film, so we kept projections black and white, save for a few moments that were emphasized with color. A combination of still imagery and moving video set us in the various locations of the story and contributed to the action of scenes. This layering allowed us to play a lot with special effects moments. Scenery flew by in the background of our moving train, two airplanes flew through the air during a chase, and plaster fell from the ceiling of a theatre when a gun was fired into the air.
The show began with a newsreel that covered various hot news items from the era. An animated sequence also played before we entered the theatre, setting up our audience for a night on the west end. Our plane sequence was by far the most complicated, as our actors had to line themselves up correctly with all of the projected elements.”
