In Memoriam: Thomas M. Lemons

Thomas M. Lemons, 90, of Brooksby Village Peabody, formerly of Marblehead, MA, died peacefully on Nov. 25.
Tom Lemons, FIES, PE was a titan of the lighting industry; he enjoyed an international reputation as an expert in the fields of Sports Lighting, Glare & Spill research, and Optical Systems Design. Tom began his lighting career in 1950 when he started a theatre lighting company while in high school. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue and subsequently worked for Sylvania Lighting before founding TLA-Lighting Consultants in 1970. He has been an officer or board member of IESNA, IALD, CIE, and USITT. Tom was a Fellow of both the IESNA & USITT, holds over 20 patents, and has authored over 80 technical papers.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church in Salem, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Church in Salem, the IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers) Education Trust Thomas M. Lemons Scholarship.
