USITT Fellow Stephanie Young
We love hearing how USITT has impacted you either professionally, personally, or both! Get to know USITT Fellow and Senior member, Stephanie Young!
Stephanie was on the the faculty of the School of Theater at CalArts for 30 years, where she served as the head of the Stage Management program and as Assistant Dean before her retirement. She developed the production organization systems at the Santa Rosa Summer Repertory Theater where she served as production manager for eight years and at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival where she was the production manager for 16 years. Prior to that she worked as a designer and technical director in Santa Rosa, CA, St. Charles, MO and Wilmington, NC.
Active in the USITT since 1975, she served in the governance of USITT in many capacities and was elected as a Fellow of the Institute in 2016.
Stephanie received a BA in history and drama from UC Santa Barbara, an MA in Theater from San Francisco State and an MFA in scene and lighting design from Lindenwood Colleges. Her outside interests include travelling, gardening and painting/refinishing furniture.
When she retired she moved to Jackson, CA in the Sierra foothills southeast of Sacramento. She has been an active member, project leader and board member of several organizations and is currently the President of the Amador County branch of AAUW.
